Lenco International successfully project managed a complete signage package for Stena Sealink

Lenco International - Case Study - Stena Sealink Line
Some years ago Lenco International was entrusted with the evolving change of a ferry operator's corporate identity that created unique challenges. The brief required that Lenco International visit every English, Scottish, Welsh, French and Irish port belonging to the then Sealink Stena Line of cross-channel ferries, travelling on every ship in its fleet. Every sign in each port and on each ship that was branded with the disappearing Sealink Ferries logo or typeface was recorded and redesigned with new logo and text. It also became a massive stock taking exercise and many signs, all conveying similar messages in a multitude of different ways, were standardised during the design process to make future signage buying more cost-effective.

Following various specialist manufacturers being appointed, Lenco International's involvement continued, this time to oversee the fitting of new signs. From the massive gantry-mounted panels and flexible-face signs, through several complementary directional sign systems for on-board and on-shore locations - and down to the smallest of 'Crew Only' notices - some 8,000 signs were replaced with Lenco International designs.

However, soon after the completion of that project, Stena Line took a majority share in the company and decided that it should no longer be Sealink Stena Line, but Stena Sealink Line. So Lenco International started the whole project over again, but this time with a very different brief. Because all the signs were so new, Lenco International was asked to devise a means of overlaying new logos on the signs rather than entirely replace them. With the original design and manufacturing details still warm from the drawing board, Lenco International was able to complete the second re-signing programme precisely on schedule and within a very tight budget, much to the delight of the client.
